Hilo High tennis benefit

The Vikings Tennis Booster Club will hold its annual fundraiser on Friday at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.

You may participate in a doubles round robin tournament, a tennis clinic/aerobics session or both.

The evening starts off with a doubles round-robin tournament – for 6.0-7.0 combined rating levels – for men’s, women’s or mixed teams.

Cost is $20 and it’s limited to the first 12 entrants.

Next will be aerobics-style activities. The cost for this event is $25 – unlimited entrants.

The evening closes with a doubles round-robin tournament – this time for 8.0 and above combined rating levels. Cost for this event is also $20, and it’s limited to the first 12 entrants.

Enter the clinic/aerobics event and one of the doubles events – the cost is $40 (save $5).

The deadline to enter is Wednesday.

Hilo AYSO registration

The season for the Hilo region of the American Youth Soccer Organization runs April-June for players ages 4-18 by March 3.

Registration forms for new players are available at SportsLine, 417 Kalanikoa St. and Life Care Center of Hilo Social Service Department, 944 West Kawailani St., Hilo.

Kickball tourney Jan. 30 in Hilo

PARENTS, Inc. will hold its inaugural kickball tournament from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 30 to help it celebrate “40 years of kicking child abuse and neglect out of Hawaii.”

The deadline to sign up a team is Saturday at a cost $500 a team.

Hawaii Cycling Club events

Bicyclists of all abilities are invited to participate in Hawaii Cycling Club events, either riding at their own pace, racing or volunteering.

All events are social. After their event, participants and volunteers gather at the talk story aid station to discuss and to tell tall stories concerning their athletic experiences.

Feb. 13: The prologue, a short 10-mile ride, has been kicking off HCC’s race/ride season for more than 10 years. The start time is 7 a.m. at Kaiminani Drive and Highway 19. Registration is from 6:20-6:45 a.m. on Pukiawe Street off of Kaiminani Drive, about a 10th of a mile from Highway 19.

March 5: The Kua Bay course is 12.2 miles, starting on Highway 19 at Waikoloa Beach Road and ending at the turn off to Kua Bay. The start time is 7 a.m., and registration is from 6:20-6:45 a.m. at Bike Works Beach and Sports in the Queen’s Market Place in Kailua-Kona

March 13: The Dragon, featuring nine hills in the Keauhou area. Hawaii Cycling Club 2016-17 members and 2016 annual members get first crack at the limited number of slots. It’s a no-one-gets-dropped event that’s designed to bring out riders of all abilities, and yet it’s a hill-climbing competition at the same time. All participants are required to have an annual USA Cycling or a one-day USA Cycling membership.

April 5: The third annual Hawaii Century is a benefit for Kona Hospice The Hawaii Century is a ride, not a race.

Haili tourneys on tap

The Haili Girls Tournament will be played Feb. 15-21 at the Hilo Armory, with adult and junior divisions.

• The 59th Annual Haili Volleyball Tournament will be played on seven courts at four sites in the Hilo area from March 21-26. There will be junior and adult Divisions, and application can be downloaded at Hailivolleyball.com.

The deadline to enter both tournaments is Feb. 6.
